Greetings PAS Members!

Last Week’s Recap

Last week was a busy week for PAS.  We successfully held our first 2 general meetings of the semester.  In each meeting, the executive officers introduced upcoming semester events and shared our society’s various achievements within the Houston labor market. In addition, our Back to School Social allowed members and alumni to network in a relaxed setting.

If you were unable to attend the meeting and would like a synopsis of what was presented, email pas.secretary@gmail.com.

Upcoming Events

The Student Auxiliary with the Houston CPA Society meets every other Friday.  The Student Auxiliary is an excellent spring board to launch you into that well deserved internship or prestigious full time position.  Do not miss out on your chance to meet the energy industry and to become informed on the process of internal auditing within the industry.  The College of Business also has a speed networking event this week and a dress to impress event being held next week.  The dress to impress event happens to be the same day as our Briggs & Veselka firm visit.  Stop by room A300 to make sure you are wearing business professional attire before you meet the professionals.

The Rodeo is Approaching!

As of now, we are in need of a committee chair and vice chair for the Aramark Committee (Rodeo Committee).   Chairs will organize the volunteers for each day that we participate in the rodeo.  This does not necessarily mean that your attendance is required each day of the rodeo; however, chairs will be expected to email our representatives to let them know what days we will be attending and how many volunteers will be in attendance.  They will need to keep track of volunteers documents and make sure that volunteers are properly trained. If you are interested in this position, please fill out an application and email them to our vice president, Jeremy Blanchard, at pas.vpresident@gmail.com.  Most importantly we are in need of volunteers!  To fund PAS’ operations and events, we need to generate revenue.  Having our members volunteer a little of their time at the Rodeo this semester will allow us to fund events such as the etiquette dinner. The rodeo will be from March 1st to March 20th.  Participation in all 20 days is not required; however, we are asking everyone to a least volunteer for one day.  If you are interested in participation, fill out the required forms and email them to pas.aramarkchair@gmail.com.  We would like as many volunteers as possible to attend one of the training dates.  If you are applying to be committee chair, participation in leader training is also preferred.
