Greetings PAS Members!

Upcoming Events

This week, we will hold our first general meeting where members will be able to ask questions, offer suggestions, and join a committee.  To end this week with a bang, we will also host a back to school social to allow everyone to catch up and get to know one another in a relaxed atmosphere, as we update you on our plans for this semester.  Please see the schedule to the right for details, or check out our PAS calendar, where you will always be able to find details for upcoming events hosted by PAS and the college of business.  This month we also have a firm visit at Briggs & Veselka planned and will be requesting people to RSVP, as soon as possible.

Upcoming Firm Visit!

As part of being a PAS member, you will have the opportunity to visit the well-known public accounting firm, Briggs & Veselka.  During the visit, you will interact with seasoned professionals in the public accounting community who generously share their personal experiences and firm’s strategies.  In addition to supplementing your educational experience, these visits enhance ties between PAS and companies that may offer on-campus interviews.  On February 18th, from 3pm-5pm, join us to give yourself an idea on what working at a public accounting firm like Briggs & Veselka would be like.  There will be a limit of 35 visitors.  To be selected for this event, you must have a 3.0 GPA and an approved resume on jobs for gators.  Make sure to RSVP with our president, Alex Sanchez, before all of the available spots have been filled.  You can email him at  Also, feel free to click the picture above to be taken to their website.

COB Resume Dash

First impressions count, and the first impression that a potential employer will have of you, will depend on your current resume.  This will be your one and only chance to capture a potential employer’s attention, or for your resume to be tossed into the file of those they don’t want to pursue.  Drop in and take advantage of the College of Business’s fast-paced resume review event.  This event will be very beneficial to those of you still working on perfecting your resumes.  The Resume Dash will take place on the second floor of the COB building on February 3rd, from 10am to 1pm, and February 4th, from 4pm-7pm.

Meet the Industry Event!

The college of Business is hosting an industry symposium!  The event is directed to business students majoring in accounting, finance, supply chain management and much more!  Not only will you gain knowledge on the industry in which you are majoring, you will also have prime networking opportunities with the speakers in the industry.  Some of the speaking companies include, but are not limited to, CenterPoint Energy, Exxon Mobile, and RSM US.  Keep in mind that RSM currently has open positions listed on jobs for gators, and this event could potentially open the door for those of you applying.  The event will be on February 12th, from 9am-3pm.  Click Meet the Industry, to register.

Gator Leadership Academy

The Gator Leadership Academy (GLA) is a 3-day seminar that offers, to current and aspiring student leaders, the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills.  The event will provide participants with the confidence to take initiative as leaders in various opportunities and to further develop their skills.  Upon graduation of the academy, you will receive a certification showing proof of your leadership development, which will be beneficial when applying to leadership positions and jobs.  They will be having 2 cohorts that you can attend.  However, your participation in only one is required to receive the certification.  The first cohort will take place on February 4th, 11th, and 18th, from 5pm-8pm.  The second is being held on February 5th, 12th and 19th, from 10am-1pm.  To participate in this event, you will be required to submit an application, which can be found by clicking GATOR.
